Web sites 5

1. I came across this nice web-site of some Florida creative agency: http://www.floridaflourish.com

They provide various design and web services. Overall their web-site has a great navigation and I think that the interactive menu, that comes out of the orange tree on the main page is really nice. I also think that their menu is very well thought over, and everything is very easy to find and understand.

2. I am a big green tea fan, and this nice, clean web-site caught my attention. http://narien.com/

The approach of cleanliness and close-up pictures of the tea differentiates this site from the most tea-coffee online stores. The navigation is clear and understandable.

3. An interesting web-site from a leather company that makes totes, bags and luggage out of leather. http://www.saddlebackleather.com/168-duffel-overnight-bag

Websites of the week #3

1. Very fun interactive design. Unfortunately I have no idea what is the site about since it is in French, but it is very nice to navigate on it. Interesting loading bars and interactive elements. It is something about the nature.

2. Website that contains several interesting interactive links: http://www.creaktif.com/

3. Schweppes. Another site in French. It has something to do with cinema and schweppes. But again, since it is in French, it is hard to understand. I have noticed interesting loading bars, navigation and selection. I think it talks about the movies advertising schweppes has created.

Interesting web sites.

I have encountered the following web-sites:

http://www.rareview.com/
It is a design-agency site and they provide a nice and clean design with simple but clear and effective message.

Another site is http://www.artlebedev.com/

Lebedev's Studio is one of the largest and one of the most popular design studios in Moscow. They create everything, from illustration to industrial design. Their policy is such that they are against using animation on their studio web-site, but the content is often very good.

Encountered problems in AE. Tutorial 5

I was lucky enough to not to encounter anything major. But After Effect crushes every once in a while, and most of the time it does it when the work is not saved. So, go to the after effects preferences and set it on autosave - do yourself a favor.

Then I found out, that sometimes it is much easier to place certain parts of the animation as a separate composition within another composition. For example, my fishes consist of four layer each and I have a whole bunch of them on the screen. In order to avoid a huge clutter, I precomposed four layers that have different mask on that make a single fish as a separate composition. The difficulty is, when you have 30 copies of the same composition, and you need to make one of them, say, different color, do not change properties inside of the composition. It will change them all. Apply changes to the composition separately to the while thing.

When you need to make two masks that would be close together so that there is no gap between them, make one mask, set it on none, and then duplicate it with command+d. Then drag the points away to the area where you need them to be, leaving the adjusting edge intact.
